About the Place
Mount Rushmore National Memorial, located in the Black Hills region of South Dakota, is one of the most iconic landmarks in the United States. This colossal sculpture features the faces of four American presidents – George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln – carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore. The project was initiated by Doane Robinson and sculpted by Gutzon Borglum and his son, Lincoln Borglum, between 1927 and 1941. Mount Rushmore symbolizes the birth, growth, development, and preservation of the nation and is a testament to American history and ingenuity. Each face is about 60 feet high, making the monument an awe-inspiring sight.
